New Zealand's Queenstown is a picturesque town, set amongst wonderful scenery, on the country's South Island. It attracts visitors all throughout the year, and is a great point for enjoying some adventure and adrenalin- fuelled activities. With the close proximity of the Southern Alps and Wakatipu Lake, there are good outdoor options.
All budgets are catered for in Queenstown, from accommodation to eating and drinking. Locally caught mussels are a speciality. Night life can get very raucous, with late night partying common. Nearby Wanaka offers a quieter experience.
Head out to see the Remarkables, a jagged mountain range that certainly live up to their name. Pay a visit to the sparkling and spectacular Lake Wakatipu. Ride the Skyline Gondola to Bob's Peak for great views. Stop by the ancient Kawarau Gorge. Go wine tasting at local vineyards and wineries.
Try skiing, snowboarding, horse riding, fishing, take a scenic flight, and relax on a magical boat trip. If you're brave enough you could also ride the exciting luge, or try bungee jumping, white water rafting, riding a jet boat, parasailing, or hurling yourself off a hill with your parachute for company! Try something different if you dare!
There is an international airport that flies to Australia and domestic destinations. Bus services also connect with the town, and it is possible to reach by car. The core part of the town is easy to get around by foot. To reach outlying areas you will need to go by bus or car. A weekend night bus is in operation, meaning that you can go out and have fun, and get home safely with ease.
