The soaring Petronas Twin Towers are a major iconic landmark in the city, and you can take the lift to the dizzyingly high observation tower for incredible views over the city. There are other tall buildings with observation decks in the locale. Base jumping is gaining popularity in the country, and you may see some daredevils plunging towards the ground at a rapid rate of knots from the observation point of the Menora.
The National Mosque is a proud building with an impressive dome. Chinatown, or Jalan Pataling, is well worth a wander, where the aromas of cooking are sure to tingle your taste buds. There are charming temples and shrines sprinkled around the area. Merdeka Square is filled with lovely colonial era buildings.
A little way outside of the city, the monkey ridden and statue filled Batu Caves are a nice sight.
There are two airports that serve the city; the main international airport and the low cost carrier terminal. Shuttle buses link the two airports. It is also possible to get to Kuala Lumpur by road and rail. The overhead metro is a good way to get around the city, as the roads can be very congested at peak times. There are also buses and taxis.
There are a tremendous amount of food options in the city – food courts are inexpensive. Night life is fun.
