Gladstone, AustraliaAustralia's Gladstone lies between Rockhampton and Bundaberg in the state of Queensland. It sits in the hills and overlooks the harbour. It is a modern city, with an industrial heritage, popular for beaches, islands, nice weather, and a variety of activities and attractions.

Gladstone Airport is located some five kilometers outside of the city. Flights operate to and from Brisbane, Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, and Rockhampton. Brisbane and Rockhampton can be reached by rail. You can rent a car at the airport or in the downtown area, or alternatively explore the city by bicycle.

At the Marina Parklands you will find a good recreation area that includes play areas, gardens, a coffee shop, tourist information, and a nice path alongside the water. You can also catch ferries to Curtis Island and the reef.

At Auckland Point you can enjoy great views of the city, the harbour, and islands. There is a man made waterfall that is colourfully lit in the evenings.

Other places of interest include the Tondoon Botanic Gardens, Queensland Alumina, Boyne Smelter, and Calliope River Historical Village.
