Ballina Flights Guide

Ballina, AustraliaAustralia's Ballina is in the Northern Rivers area of New South Wales. The river is awash with aquatic life, making it popular for fishing. Water sports are also available. It has a humid subtropical climate.

The town's current lighthouse has been in operation since 1880. Ballina holds the claim to fame of being home to the biggest prawn in the whole world! It is a giant structure, made from fibreglass and concrete. You must go and see it when visiting the town. The Maritime Museum is also well worth a visit.

Other places of interest include Ballina Manor, the Australian Seabird Rescue, and the Jingi Wahla Reconcilliation Tunnel. The tunnel is particularly interesting as it contains murals depicting the lives of the Three Brothers, Yarbirri, Mamoom, and Burrang. These Aboriginies were the founders of the Bundjalung Nation, and are very important to the native community. Macademia Castle is within easy reach of the town.

Visitors can get active and try some kayaking along the river. Alternatively, one can relax and unwind with a deliciously delightful spa treatment. There is also an indoor sports and skate centre and a golf club in the town, and you can get competitive at paintballing at the Ballina Adventure Park. For great views of the area, take a helicopter ride over Ballina.

The beaches are good for swimming and surfing.

Ballina Airport operates flights to and from Melbourne and Sydney, and it is a major gateway for people travelling to Byron Bay and Lismore.
