Virgin Blue - Airline Information
Virgin Blue Airlines is a Brisbane based low cost airline that was launched in August 2000. The airline has an extensive domestic network of 24 destinations within Australia, including many locations on the East Coast such as Fraser Coast, Coffs Coast, Hamilton Island and Ballina Byron.
The airline also offers flights to a number of international destinations through its associated services including Pacific Blue and Polynesian Blue. From September 2008, the airline will additionally fly daily between Melbourne and Auckland.
Virgin Blue has a Happy Hour on its website between 12pm and 1pm every day, offering selected routes at a special discount for the duration of the Happy Hour.
Virgin Blue – Air Travel Classes, Cheap FlightsAn on board menu is offered on all flights, with purchases able to be made with cash or credit card.
Live2Air entertainment systems are now available on Virgin Blue flights, showing 24 Foxtel channels. The cost of using the system is $4.90 on flights of 2 hours duration or less, and $9.90 on longer flights.
The Blue Zone is an area of the plane where seats have extra legroom. It is possible to pre-book one of these seats for an additional charge, either through the Guest Contact Centre or the website.
Virgin Premium Economy ClassA limited number of Premium Economy seats are available on Australian domestic flights. Benefits of Premium Economy include extra legroom, access to the Lounge where available, extra baggage allowance and priority check-in.
Business travellersFor business travellers, Virgin Blue has introduced a number of services beyond their loyalty programme, including business facilities and lounges (called The Lounge) at a number of major airports. The Lounge offers all-inclusive facilities for a membership fee or casual fee basis. Facilities that are provided include newspapers, computers, WiFi internet access, as well as food and refreshments. Corporate Plus fares offer greater flexibility than standard fares, with the option to receive full refunds or credits on future flights.
Velocity Rewards Frequent Flyer ProgrammeVelocity Rewards is the frequent flyer loyalty program operated by Virgin Blue. Members accumulate points from a number of airline and non-airline partners as well as from spending on the Velocity credit card. Points can be used to book any available seat at any time.
