US Airways

Why Fly On US Airways

Exciting news has just recently occurred between two airline companies! As of January 7, 2014, US Airway merged with American Airlines to form the largest airline in the world and to offer its customers more choices through the expanded network of mileage programs. The two airlines have merged into one and will operate under the name of American. In fact their website states they are building the new American, together with the customer in mind.
Although this is just the beginning phases of the merger, and their website www.usairways.com assures that they will operate as a separate airline for now, customers will be able to earn and redeem their miles on American Airline flights providing them with more benefits and an increase in mileage. In addition, preferred members are assured to receive the same benefits that they do when they fly American. This merger however will not have any negative impacts on any customers with regards to scheduled travels, record information, or anything else for that matter. Travelers will benefit not only by their mileage and increased service but also the option to travel to more destinations worldwide.

Due to the change and merging of the two airlines, US Airways will no longer be a part of the Star Alliance group and will be a part of the Oneworld Alliance group which will be giving travelers much more options and benefits.

US Airway Flights

Prior to the merger, US Airways operated flights to 193 destinations in 24 countries throughout North and South America, Europe and the Middle East from its hubs in Phoenix, Charlotte and Philadelphia. Now their global network will offer flights to more than 336 destinations in more than 56 countries through worldwide connections including hubs maintained by American Airlines in Chicago, Dallas- Fort Worth, Los Angeles, Miami, New York and Washington DC and a stronger network through the Oneworld Alliance group.

On Board US Airways

Passengers that are traveling with First Class will have access to the wider and more comfortable seats that also offer more leg room. Full meals are available on flights that are longer than 3.5 hours in length.
Unlike many other airlines, choice seats are available for travelers that prefer to fly closer to the front of the plane. These seats are located mostly toward the front of coach and are mostly window and aisle seats.

Nearly 90% of US Airways flights offer full Wi-Fi internet access once the plane reaches above 10,000 feet for a small fee, allowing you to feel just like you would at home. Aside from the location of the seats as well as comfort, these seats also include a television where you can view some of your favorite movies and shows, or play games and listen to music while you relax and enjoy your flight.

US Airways Business Class Flights

Fly in comfort and style with Envoy Business Class. This section offers seats that more comfortable with more space and plenty of leg room. Seats are also positioned at an angle facing away from the aisle to allow for more privacy and comfort. Depending on which type of aircraft you fly, some seats are set up to lie practically nearly flat while other seats recline to a fully flat-bed position so that you arrive to your destination refreshed and fully rested. In addition, on board you will be served the finest wines along with exclusive restaurant style meals. Every Envoy Business Class seat is equipped with its own power outlet for your laptop. So as you see, you can sleep, work or simply relax and enjoy a wide variety of entertainment that is available such as movies, TV shows and music.

US Airways Club Members and Lounges

What does this merger with American Airlines mean to Club Members? US Airways will no longer be a part of the Alliance group and once they exit the Star Alliance, club members will no longer have access to United Lounges. In fact, once they join the Oneworld Alliance group sometime in March of 2014, the Club Members will have access to more than 600 airport lounges worldwide when flying any Oneworld member airline, including access to both US Airway Clubs and American Admiral Club lounges. In summary, members will have more value, more access, and many more lounges to enjoy.
