Olympic Air

Why Fly with Olympic Air

Given its name, Olympic Air is one of the main airline carriers in Greece. It is a subsidiary of the well-known Aegean Airline which holds many awards and is one of the largest airline carriers in Greece. Olympic Air has a fascinating history as well as many uphill battles it has experienced before becoming the great airline they are today. The airline company was previously known as Olympic Airlines, and before then, it was well-known as Olympic Airways. Olympic Air was founded due to the fact that Olympic Airlines ceased all its operations on the last day of the year 2009. This was in part due to conflicting airlines that were reaching the same destinations on Greek islands outside of the European Union. The airline is now a part of the Star Alliance group and reaches destinations throughout Greece and Europe.

Olympic Air Flights

Olympic Air lands in 23 different countries which include those throughout Europe, Greece, Asia, and even Egypt! It reaches over 35 destinations throughout those countries. However, itís capability to reach these destinations are through the 5 codeshare agreements they maintain. The airline has a 15 aircraft fleet size. Many of Olympic Air flights are operated through their parent company Aegean Airlines.

Olympic Air currently offers Economy Class on all of its flights and Business Class on only a select few. All of the seats are fairly comfortable. Upon boarding the plane, passengers are greeted and offered a variety of beverages and snacks to choose from. The complimentary services and variety of snack and beverage options would depend on the duration and destination of your flight. Complimentary meals are offered on long-haul flights.

Business Class with Olympic Air and Frequent Flyer Program

Unlike some other airlines, Olympic Air offers Business Class flights at a reasonable price. However, some airports do not offer a separate check-in for Business Class travelers. Configurations are usually a 2-2-2 and at times a 2-3-2, however each of the seats offer an immense amount of legroom, width, and seat pitch. Business class is available on a select number of flights and vary per destination.

Travelair Club is the frequent flyer program operated by Olympic Air. The program offers 3 tier levels; Blue, Silver, and Gold. Miles can be accumulated through the purchase of Olympic Air flights, hotels, and car rentals as well as flights purchased with Delta Airlines.

Olympic Air Lounges

One of the nicest lounges available in the Athens International Airport is operated by Olympic Air. Access to the lounge is available to certain frequent flyer members of Olympic Air and Business Class travelers. Card holder members of the Star Alliance group also have access to the lounges operated by Olympic Air. Recently, Olympic Air implemented that passengers can purchase access to the lounge for a one-time fee.

Booking Your Flight with Olympic Air

The Olympic Air website can be translated to both English and Greek. Their easy to navigate and colorful website makes booking your flight fun and simple. Users can even take a look at their low-fare calendar if they wish to take a quick vacation or snag a great deal.
