Why Fly On Meridiana
Originally founded in 1963 by Prince Karim al-Hussayn Aga Khan as Alisarda for the purpose of promoting tourism to Sardinia, this Italian airline later changed its name to Meridiana in 1991. The airline is the second largest airline in Italy with its main hub at Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport in Olbia, Sardinia. In 2011 they purchased Air Italy but still operate separately. Recently, the airline changed its name to Meridiana fly with the merger of Euro fly in 2012, then once again back to Meridiana in 2013. Meridiana operates a total passenger fleet size of 27 aircraft, most of which are the McDonnell Douglas MD82 and Airbus a320, with no aircraft on order for now.
The airline does not belong to any airline network alliance group.
The airlines main focus are on the Central and Northern areas of Italy and they operate domestic flights to 32 airports including all of the major airports in Southern Italy, Sicily and Sardinia. In addition, they fly to seven intercontinental destinations and 48 international airports. The airline also has code share agreements with eight other airlines.

On Board Meridiana
Meridiana offers two types of classes on both their short and long haul flights, Economy and Business Class. In-flight entertainment on all short haul flights include cartoons, comic shows and some documentaries, where longer flights include the latest movies. The Economy Class seats are standard width and pitch. Complimentary beverages are served on most of the domestic flights. Longer flights offer complimentary food, in addition to beverages. Any passenger wishing to sit more towards the front of the cabin or near the emergency exit may purchase these seats for an additional fee.
Meridiana Business Class
Business Class seating on long haul flights are comprised of leather seating with your own personal reading light and TV monitor for the latest movies being shown on board. Some aircraft have personal iPads at the seat offering more entertainment options. A special dedicated menu offering traditional Mediterranean dishes and specialty wines are served on these flights.
