Japan Airlines is considered one of the world’s premier carriers. They were formed in 1951 and operate almost 900 flights per day to more than 90 destinations across 20 countries from its major hubs in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya and Okinawa. On Board Japan Airlines
On its international long haul flights, Japan Airlines offer up to four cabin classes that include First Class, Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy. Their selected domestic flights offer First Class and Class J which is also known as Business Class.
Japan Airlines has truly mastered the art and design of comfort on their newly designed First Class seating with high attention to detail.
First Class (Domestic) - There are only 14 seats on these flights located at the front of the cabin. The seats are made of premium leather with ergonomic cushioning and wood grain accents. They are 21 inches wide with armrests that are 13 inches wide. A center console is wide and high for more privacy. The seats recline to a maximum of 42 degrees and have adjustable leg and foot rests.
Premium meals created by expert Japanese chefs are served on board along with alcoholic beverages, snacks and refreshments.
New Sky JAL Mooove offers the ultimate in-flight entertainment with movies, games, videos and audio. Many aircraft are equipped with VOD. Included are state of the art Boise noise cancelling headphones.
First Class (International) features the JAL Suite and provides luxury beyond your expectations. It is a full private compartment of your own and offers the absolute maximum privacy, making you feel like you’re in your own bedroom or study. The interior design of the space is made of a wood grain finish and the compartment is one of the largest on any airline. Relax and rest in a wider, more comfortable bed made of Tempur bedding. Economy class (International) seating features the famous Recaro seats that use 100 years of tradition in manufacturing and ensure a relaxing and enjoyable flight. The plush cushions offer just the right amount of firmness. More leg room and wider seats are offered with an additional seat pitch of approximately 7 cm so you can comfortably cross your legs or stretch them out. The seats are wider by approximately 2 cm.
Premium Economy (International) offers two choices. The JAL Sky Premium seating offers more leg room with an additional 10cm seat pitch, including a three step adjustable foot rest and an extra 7 cm of slide capability. The JAL Sky Shell seat won the 2008 Good Design Award. It offers 20% more room and a set pitch of 97cm for more relaxation. In addition it offers the standard footrest along with leg-support. To adjust the seat to a reclining position the passenger must slide their seat forward first so the seat in front of you will never disturb your space.
Japan Airlines - Travel Classes, Cheap Flights
JAL offers First, Business, Premium Economy and Economy class in its aircraft cabins.
Japan Airlines Business Class
Known as Class J (Domestic), the seating offers more space to relax. The seats are ergonomically designed to promote relation and yet keep your posture in full balance while distributing the weight across both the upper and lower back with no strain. There is also plenty of leg room even in the reclined position.
International Flight Business Class is also the popular JAL Suite and an ideal in-flight space for the business traveler. There are a total of 6 varieties of JAL Suites available depending on which type of air carrier you fly on, and the destination of your flight. They are the JAL Sky Suite, JAL Sky Suite II, JAL Shell Flat Neo, JAL Shell Flat Seat, JAL Sky Recliner, and the JAL Skyluxe seat. They all offer very high levels of comfort.
The most deluxe of the six International Business class seats is the JAL Sky Suite. The comfortable seat is wide and stretches out to a fully reclined flat bed with an exclusively designed mattress and pillow. The suite contains a retractable privacy partition for maximum privacy and minimal disturbances. In fact, the JAL Suite won the Skytrax award for the Best business Class Airline Seat in 2013. Other great features include plenty of storage space in addition to overhead shelves at the window and center seats, your own AC power outlet, USB port and video input. Large swivel tables are for your convenience. The Suite also includes a 23 inch LCD monitor which is one of the largest in its class.

The JAL Entertainment Network (JEN) is available to passengers in Economy class, offering a choice of movies and games. Other services provided include newspapers and magazines and complimentary mineral water.
Japan Airlines Lounges
Three types of domestic lounges and services are offered; the Diamond Premier Lounge, Sakura Lounge and the Common Lounge. These lounges are based on membership status or boarding Class. Members of the Japan Airlines Mileage Bank (JMB) Diamond, JGC Premier, JMB Sapphire, JMB Crystal, and JAL Global Clubs may use the departure airport lounge service. Since the services and criteria vary between the lounges, it is advisable to check in advance with the airline. Additional lounges are included through the Oneworld partner network of airlines.
