Why Fly On Flybe
The airline was originally known as Jersey European Airways when it was founded in 1979 and then later changed its branding to British European, and finally now known as Flybe since 2002. It is a low cost British regional airline and also Europe’s largest low cost airline. The airline has a total of 14 bases across the United Kingdom, Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. Its main hub is at Manchester and its largest base is at Birmingham Airport. In addition, the airline has acquired British Airways regional airline, BA Connect in 2006 and also operates as Flybe Nordic in Finland. Currently Flybe operates a total passenger fleet size of 70 aircraft, most of which include the Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 with 35 Embraer E-175 aircraft that seats 88 passengers.
Flybe is one of the first low cost airlines to offer a frequent flyer program.
They operate over 200 routes departing from a total of 36 United Kingdom Airports and 62 European airports in 18 European countries. Flybe as code share agreements with 5 other airlines including a franchise partnership with Loganair, making a greater presence throughout Scotland. Flybe does not belong to any airline alliance groups.
On Board Flybe
Flybe only offers two types of seats on their aircraft and they are Economy and Economy Plus. The Economy Class seating is standard and all food and drinks are available for purchase on board. Baggage fees are also charged based on weight and amount. Additional fees are charged if you would like to choose your seat or need extra leg room. The Economy Plus is advertised as a Business Class yet has less restrictions such as allowing passengers to change flight itinerary without incurring any additional fees, thus giving the business traveler more flexibility. Economy Plus passengers also have the ability to choose and book their seats ahead of time at no extra cost. In addition, Economy Plus ticket holders will have access to the lounges and receive complimentary sandwiches, snacks and drinks.
Flybe Business Class
The Business Class traveler has three types of tickets to choose from; Essentials, New Economy, and Fly Plus. The Essentials is for the cost conscious business traveler offering standard seating and the ability to pre book your seat before you fly and make flight routing and time changes. The New Economy gives you your favorite standard seat or an upgrade to extra leg room with no additional fees for flight changes. The Fly Plus is for the premium business traveler. You get a free choice of standard or extra legroom seats, a flexible ticket allowing changes to your flights anytime, and complimentary snacks, sandwiches and drinks on board and in the lounges. Receive complimentary snacks, sandwiches and drinks on board. In addition, double Rewards4all points are earned with these ticket holders.
Flybe has 6 Executive lounges that it operates as well as 9 partner lounges that are available to enjoy, offering comfort and privacy as well as snacks and drinks before your next flight. Access to these lounges is available for Flybe Plus passenger, those redeeming their Rewards4All points to fly in Flybe Plus, and those that hold a Premier card.
