My wife and I flew with Etihad from Sydney to Munich via Abu Dhabi on 22 May 2007 and from Paris to Sydney via Abu Dhabi on 7 June 2007. The in-flight entertainment system was malfunctioning on all flights and cabin staff were most unhelpful in responding to complaints even suggesting at one point that the problem was "too many people using it causing it to overload". I can well believe the newspaper reports of problems with passengers on a recent flight as there is nothing more likely to result in disgruntal passengers than an in-flight entertainment system that wont work.
We were traveling economy class but friends travelling Business Class had an entertainment system remote control that wouldnt work and their seat reclining mechanism was malfunctioning.
If Etihad wants to be a serious competitor on the long haul flights to Europe it really needs to lift its game. My wife and I wont be choosing Etihad for our next overseas travel.

Iflew with Etihad airways on one of my business trips to London and imust commend this airline to everyone who would prefer afuss free and comfortable trip anywhere in the worldwide destination .The crew were very neat helpful and hospitable and everythig I asked for was provided for I felt content that ihad a money for value service as they say excellence is their walk and talk indeed as traveling business man this is agreat choice for any one traveling on student, vacation or business reasons .Thank you very much Etihad airways for setting the standards and the pace for airline travel.
