Why Fly On China Eastern Airlines
China’s second largest carrier by passenger numbers, China Eastern Airlines is a major airline of China. It operates domestic, regional and international flights. Two of its main hubs are at Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport along with two secondary hubs.
Shanghai Airlines became China Eastern Airline’s wholly owned subsidiary in 2010 and together they joined the SkyTeam alliance in 2011 although retaining its own brand. The joint venture has allowed the airline to offer passengers more possible destinations and services.
Their passenger fleet size is currently at 339 aircrafts, most of which is comprised of the Airbus A320-200, Boeing 737-700 and the Airbus A321-200. The airline services many long-haul routes.

On Board China Eastern Airlines
Depending on the type of aircraft passengers are flying, China Eastern offers three types of classes of seating and service; First Class, Economy, and Business class.
First Class seating onboard the A340-300 aircraft comprises 12 seats and offers a nice 28 inch wide comfortable seat that reclines fully to a flatbed position. When relaxing, the seat can recline to almost any flat position, up to 165 degrees. The seat pitch is at 62 inches for plenty of leg room. However, the seats on the A340-600 aircraft include the same width but a longer pitch of 80 inches for even more space. Of course all First Class services include your own private entertainment offering movies, games and even your own satellite phone where you can make calls to anywhere in the world. Meals offered on First Class include your choice of Chinese or Western cuisine dishes along with fine wines, cocktails and other refreshments.
The Economy Class seating is quite standard and basic. The seat pitch on each route varies depending upon the type of aircraft and flight duration. However, the seat pitches only vary from 32-34 inches. Each seat offers entertainment of a few choices of Chinese, Western or French films and news. Main meals are served with a choice of either the Chinese or Western option along with a good selection of drinks and refreshments.
China Eastern Business Class
Seating on the Business Class slightly varies depending on the size of the aircraft. The A340-600 Business Class seats are comprised of 28 seats. Each of these seats has a width of 28 inches and offers a pitch of anywhere between 38 to 42 inches. The have a reclining capability of up to 135 degrees for a comfortable resting position.
Business Class seats on the A330-200 have more leg room with a pitch of 57 inches and can recline to 169 degrees. An additional feature on the business class seats include an installed massage function in the seats for a more relaxing flight experience.
The A330- 300 aircraft flies both domestic and international routes and offers a newer type of seating. There are 38 Business Class seating arrangements. Massage options are included on these seats. With a 57 inch pitch, there is plenty of leg room and the ability to even stretch your legs. In addition, the seats recline up to 169 degrees. These cabins also offer a vast selection of Audio/Video on Demand Entertainment.
China Eastern Lounges
The airport lounges at the four main hubs are for those flying on the First Class or Business Class or members that are a part of the Eastern Miles frequent flyer Gold or Platinum customers. The lounges offer a spacious room for passengers to relax, work, or play. Food and drinks are complimentary to lounge guests. Many of the lounges offer free Wi-Fi.
A member of the Eastern Miles Frequent flyer program also has the ability to access a limited number of lounges throughout China Easterns affiliate airlines via the SkyTeam alliance.
