Cathay Pacific is an Asian airline based in Hong Kong which flies to around 100 destinations worldwide. The airline operates a fleet of over 100 aircraft, including the Boeing 777-300 Extended Range and the Boeing 747-400 aircraft. From Australia, Cathay Pacific flies from a variety of major cities including Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide to Hong Kong, London, Europe, America and Asia. Cathay Pacific is part of the One World frequent flyer partner programme – which includes related airline Dragonair.
At Hong Kong International Airport, Cathay Pacific has a Superhub, which offers travellers six transit gates close to both immigration and customs, thus offering a more relaxed airport experience. The Superhub also contains airport lounges for the use of Business and First Class passengers, offering food, beverages and business services amongst other benefits.

In 1998 it flew the world’s first transpolar flight which glided over the North Pole. It was also the world’s first and longest non-stop flight from New York to Hong Kong, also making it its longest nonstop flight. On Board Cathay Pacific
Cathay Pacific now operates the newly renovated, economy class seats as of early 2012. They continue to upgrade each aircraft with a more comfortable seating configuration. The airline increased each seat in economy class with a 6 inch recline, 32 inch pitch, and 17.5 inch wide seat. The increased recline on each seat is designed not to interrupt the passenger seated behind. Each of the seats have their own personal TV.
The in-flight entertainment system on Cathay Pacific is unlike any other. With over 100 movies and 250 TV program, passengers are able to watch all of the latest movies from around the world. Not only are movies and TV shows a big hit on their entertainment system but also the 888 music albums passengers can choose to listen from. Their AVOD and personal TV on every seat offers hit movies from the U.S., Asia, and Europe.
Each passenger travelling internationally or on a long flight will receive 1 complimentary alcoholic beverage as well as 2 main course meals.
Cathay Pacific Business Class Flights
The business class layout and seats are implemented on the Airbus A330-300 and A340-400 as well as the Boeing 777-300ER and 747-400. The seats are practical and conventional ensuring a passenger with privacy and personal space. The business class is mainly intended for international and long-haul flights. Some of the seats, particularly on the older aircrafts were claimed to be too confined. With the expansion and aircraft upgrade, the airline has been working to renovate the business class to meet the expectations and needs of travellers.
Although the business class is much more spacious, the seats on the older business class do not offer the audio and video on demand system that is found in economy and first class. The older business class seats can be found in the Airbus A340-400 and the Boeing 747-400. It does have a personal TV however, it is located in the armrest of the seats.
Cathay First Class
On selected aircraft, Cathay Pacific now offers new 'suites' in First Class, providing a high level of comfort, luxury and privacy. The suites are designed towards maximising personal space and in flight convenience within a spacious individual ‘cocoon’ design. The luxurious new design encompasses a new range of features designed to make long-haul travel a more pleasurable experience. Features of first class on selected Cathay Pacific routes include lie-flat beds with a length of 81 centimetres, a personal storage compartment/closet, an ottoman doubling as a guest seat as well as a vast selection of in-flight entertainment and dining options. First Class passengers may choose their own meals and dine at a time of their choosing, thus offering maximum flexibility.
Cathay Economy Class
The Economy Class cabin on Cathay Pacific has been designed to maximize space and comfort for passengers travelling long haul. Shell seats ensure that reclining seats do not intrude into the space of the traveller seated in the row behind. An extensive in-flight entertainment system from personal seat back televisions provide a new level of interactivity for economy class passengers, with a choice of 100 movies and programming available in a choice of nine languages.
Cathay has two loyalty and frequent flyer programs. The Marco Polo Club (The Club) loyalty program and the Asia miles travel reward. Members of The Marco Polo Club are automatically enrolled in the Asia Miles, allowing them to gain miles and have many more options for all future redemptions.
Depending on the membership tier,, travellers can receive free travel class upgrades, seat reservations, lounge access, priority check-in, complimentary services such as extra baggage and much more! There are 5 levels of the Marco Polo Club; Green, Silver, Gold, Diamond, and the highest level, Diamond Plus.
To join the Marco Polo Club, members must pay a joining fee. Members of the Marco Polo Club can redeem miles with Cathay Pacific, Dragonair, as well as other Oneworld alliance airlines.
Cathay Pacific Lounges
The airline is home to 6 lounges; the Bridge, the Arrival, the Pier, the Wing, the Cabin, and the G16 Lounge. There are lounges located in approximately 33 countries and many more airports within each country. All Marco Polo Club members have access to the lounges. The tier level of each member will determine which lounges one can access. Lounge access is also available only to those travelling with Cathay and Dragonair.
