Why Fly On Bangkok Airways
Known as Asiaís boutique airline and Thailandís first privately-owned regional airline, Bangkok Airways was first founded in 1968 under the name Sahakol Air and later in 1986 became known as Bangkok Airways. Their fleet size includes 25 aircraft that have extremely colorful landscape themes painted on them. Most of their aircraft include the Airbus A319-132, ATR 72-500 and Airbus A320-232. Most recently, they have announced the purchase of six more ATR 72-500 aircraft worth nearly 200 million dollars. This aircraft can seat between 68 and 74 passengers.
Their mains hub is at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok.
The airline is over 90 percent privately owned by a former surgeon and one of Thailandís top richest people.
Bangkok Airways Flights
The airline currently flies to eight domestic destinations in addition to an ever growing list of international destinations in Southeast Asia, India and the Maldives and through its code share agreements with 14 other airlines, they now fly to many more destinations.
On Board Bangkok Airways
Although considered a boutique airline, Bangkok Airways offers its passengers three classes of seating and service; Economy Class, Blue Ribbon Business Class and Boutique Premier Service. Economy Class seats have a standard seat pitch of 30 to 31 inches depending on the aircraft. Depending on the flight duration, Economy Class passengers are served complimentary hot meals and snacks along with non-alcoholic beverages. In-flight entertainment also varies and might include shared TV monitors and programming. The Boutique Premier Class includes wider seats at almost 20 inches and a pitch of 40 inches between the seats, however, the 2-2 seat configuration allows for the middle seat to be empty providing more space as a center armrest and table. Passengers will receive a full meal service including a large selection of beverages to choose from. Alcoholic beverages are free of charge. In-flight entertainment is provided on your very own personal TV monitor.
Bangkok Airways Business Class
Bangkok Airways has introduced their new exclusive Blue Ribbon Club that is offered for Business Class passengers offering top notch service and additional features and exclusive services from airport arrival to your final destination. Personalized service is offered every step of the way to make travel more comfortable and enjoyable. Extra wide and spacious seating that offers a nice recline and plenty of leg room in addition to leg rests and foot rests with various comfortable positions is provided with plenty of leg room. The seats on some of the aircraft are in a 2-2 cradle configuration with the middle seat blocked off for additional space as an armrest and which houses the pull out table for dining and entertainment headsets. Full service meals are offered on these flights along with complimentary drinks and beverages.
Bangkok Airways Lounges
Bangkok airways does operate a few boutique lounges at a few of the airports in Thailand that they offer to their Economy Class passengers free of charge. There are snacks and drinks served and free internet service. The Blue Ribbon Club Lounge is exclusive to Business Class passengers at some airports and also serves complimentary snacks and drinks along with free Wi-Fi and relaxing privacy before your next flight.
