Asiana Airlines is one of South Korea's two major airlines. It is both smaller and younger than Korean Air. Asiana's headquarters and overseas hub is located at Incheon International Airport and its domestic hub is at Gimpo International Airport. The airline is a star alliance member, and has a frequent flyer program called Asiana Club.

Asiana has been voted the winner of the “Best onboard and flight attendants Award” for 2006 and 2007 by Global Traveler magazine.

Asiana currently has a fleet size of 72 passenger aircraft and 11 cargo, with many more on order. Most of their passenger aircraft consists of Airbus A321-200, A321-300 and the Boeing 777-200ER. They currently have 37 aircraft on order.

The airline operates on 104 passenger routes, 14 domestic and 90 international. The airline is also known for their cargo routes, which consists of 27 routes throughout Asia, North America, Europe, and Oceania. Their destinations include that of China, Japan, and the United States. Although, the airline does reach many other destinations around the world, those throughout South Korea, China, Japan, and the USA are their most popular where the airline serves the most airports. In addition, Asiana Airlines has new code share agreements with 12 other airlines.

Asiana’s frequent flyer program is popularly known as Asiana Club. There are five tier levels of memberships; silver, gold, diamond, diamond plus, and platinum. Travelers that are part of the Asiana Club Miles program can easily collect miles through any of the Star Alliance affiliate airlines. Miles are also accumulated through the on-board mileage system. Members with enough accumulated miles can easily upgrade travel classes, take advantage of complimentary services, and even receive bonus tickets.

On Board Asiana Airlines and Travel Classes

Asiana Airlines gives passengers the option of 5 different travel classes. The airlines offers the following classes; First Suite Class, First Class, Business Smartium Class, Business Class, and Travel Class also known as Economy Class.

For those traveling with either the First Suite Class or First Class, they have the option to pre-order their on board meals up to 48 hours before departure. All of the First Class seats have a personal TV screen with a large variety of AVOD options. However, First Class is offered on a limited number of flights, and not every international route has a First Class cabin.

Many of the international flights Asiana’s services, offer two types of Business Class and Economy Class. Regardless of your flight status, all passengers will receive a complimentary meal, a personal TV with an AVOD system that offer high quality entertainment.

Every passenger will get a copy of Asiana’s very own magazines, both the “Asiana” as well as the “Asiana Entertainment”.

Asiana Airlines Business Class

Asiana Airlines offers two Business Classes, the Business Smartium and the Basic Business Class. Many of the aircrafts that offer Business Class include a power outlet for passengers to easily charge their laptops and other electronic devices. The wide and comfortable seats that offer each passenger with her own privacy lay nearly flat allowing passengers to comfortably get some rest. Lounge access is limited to passengers traveling with either business class or first class. Passengers that are part of the frequent flyer program also have access to lounges with Asiana Airlines as well as other airlines that are part of the Star Alliance. However, those that are a part of the frequent flyer program will have limited lounge access based on their tier level and status.

Asiana Club is the airline’s frequent flyer programme. Since July 2008, members may redeem points on Egypt Air. The membership levels in the scheme are Silver, Gold, Diamond and Platinum and benefits include lounge access and priority boarding (dependent on membership level).

Asiana Corporate Club is Asiana’s alternate frequent flyer program for businesses. It enables a company to enrol its employees as individual members in Asiana Club with all the regular program benefits, while at the same time earning miles for the corporation each time they fly on Asiana. Corporate participants earn the same miles as their employees when travelling on Asiana Airline operated routes. Companies with more than 10 employees may apply for membership.
