Why Fly On Alaska Airlines
Originally founded in 1932 under the name McGee Airways and then later renaming itself as Alaska Airlines in 1944, they are known as the seventh largest United States airline in regards to passenger traffic. Alaska Airlines operates four main hubs throughout the United States, with the largest one located at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in SeaTac, Washington, also not far from their headquarters. The remaining three hubs are in the cities of Los Angeles, Portland and Anchorage. For six consecutive years in a row, Alaska Airlines has received the highest customer satisfaction rating of the North American Airlines, through a study by J.D. Powers and Associates. Alaska Airlines currently operates a passenger fleet size of 133 aircraft, and most of those include the Boeing 737-800 and Boeing 737-400. They currently have 69 new aircraft on order, which is the largest order in the airlines history. They currently do not belong to any global airline alliances.

On Board Alaska Airlines
Alaska air offers First Class and Economy Class seating on their aircraft. In addition, almost all of the aircraft offer the new Gogo inflight Wi-Fi service. Business Class is currently not offered.
The First Class seating features adjustable headrests and five inches of reclining. The seats are about 21 inches wide and have a pitch of 36 inches between them. Depending on the duration of the flight, some meals are served along with a nice selection of snacks and beverages including fine wines from the West Coast. For entertainment, Alaska Airlines provides a hand held DigEplayer free of charge, that includes movies, music, TV and sports for your pleasure. The Economy Class is also known as Coach Class and features seats that are 17 inches wide with a pitch of 32 inches between seats. The entertainment also offers the hand held DigEplayer, however, there is a fee and they do need to be reserved ahead of time. Complimentary drinks are served, but food and snacks need to be purchased on board.

Alaska Airlines lounges are called Board Rooms and are operated in 5 cities as well as access to over 50 of its affiliate lounges worldwide. Membership can be purchased to have access to these lounges on an annual basis or daily. In addition to all the comforts offered in a lounge, cocktails, refreshments, soups and fresh vegetables are served along with a variety of snacks.
