Why Fly with AirTran Airways
AirTran Airways began in 1992. The airline is a wholly owned subsidiary of Southwest Airlines. AirTran Airways has been ranked as the number one low cost carrier for the past three years in the Airline Quality Rating. They serve 42 destinations throughout the United States, Mexico, and the Caribbean. The company is headquartered in Dallas but its main hub is at Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
Most recently, Southwest and AirTran have agreed to code-share itineraries with one another to expand their markets and destinations. In fact with the new integration, the home page of their website states they are now a part of Southwest Airlines. They donít participate in any airline alliances and have no other code share agreements other than the agreement with Southwest. In addition, Southwest will be integrating some of the aircraft owned and operated by AirTran Airways for a smooth transition.
