Warsaw Flights Guide

Warsaw, PolandWarsaw is the large capital city of Poland and it sits alongside the River Vistula. Having been razed by the Nazis during the Second World War, the vast majority of architecture is from the post-war period. Some old buildings have been restored, however, providing a glimpse into what the city looked like in the past.

The bulk of the city sights are in the Centrum area. Outlying places of interest include Kabaty Forest and Wilanow Palace.

Within the Old Town you can explore nice squares, peek down narrow alleyways, and enjoy a drink in a charming cafe.

The Lazienki Krolowskie Palace and Park are filled with interesting monuments and statues. The Palace of Culture and Science is a stark Soviet style building, home to museums, a concert hall, theatres, and a cinema. You can ride to the viewing deck on the 30th floor for sweeping city views. The National Stadium has an unusual design. A lovely place to vist in the city is the peaceful Fountain Park.

Warsaw has a good selection of museums, including the Warsaw Rising Museum, the National Museum, the State Ethnographical Museum in Warsaw, and the Royal Lazienki. Art lovers should visit the Centre for Modern Art and the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw. Old and young alike will be enthralled at the modern planetarium.

Numerous kebab shops provide plenty of cheap eats, and there are several retro milk bars. Warsaw is home to many night clubs, where you can enjoy a variety of music, dance ‘till you drop, and sample some intoxicating Polish vodka. There is a wide selection of places to stay to meet all budgets.

Warsaw's metro system is one of the newest in Europe. There is an extensive bus network, with over 200 different routes and some night bus services. Trams can be a good option for avoiding congested city roads. There are numerous taxis.

Two airports serve Warsaw; Warsaw Frederic Chopin Airport and Warsaw Modlin International Airport. The city is also well served by trains and buses to the rest of the country, other places in Europe, and some Central Asian cities.
