Tokyo Narita Flights Guide

Tokyo Narita, JapanNarita International Airport, IATA code NRT, is the main international airport that serves Japan's capital city of Tokyo. Flights operate to numerous international and domestic destinations and it is a major transit point between Asia and the Americas. It is Japan's second busiest airport and is a hub for several carriers.

Haneda Airport also serves Tokyo and the surrounding areas. Haneda Airport can be reached from Tokyo Narita by bus and rail. Allow up to two hours for connection times.

The airport currently has two terminals that each have separate underground train stations. Shuttle buses link the terminals; one cannot walk between them. Terminal 1 is divided into three main areas – the Central Building, North, and South. The terminal contains numerous shops, restaurants, and cafes, most of which are situated on the fourth floor within the Central Building. Baggage reclaim and customs are on the first floor. The terminal is home to the biggest duty free brand boutique mall in Japan, Narita Nakamise. Terminal 2 also has a selection of shops and places to eat and drink. The baggage reclaim area and customs are on the first floor, whilst immigration checks are conducted on the second floor.

A low cost carrier terminal is currently under construction. It is due to be completed by 2015.

The airport is home to the Museum of Aeronatical Science, which displays several aircraft.

Tokyo Narita is 58 kilometres away from Tokyo Station and 7 kilometres away from Narita Station.

The airport has good rail connections, linking passengers to Tokyo and beyond. There are numerous bus services to the Tokyo City Air Terminal in the city. The journey takes around one hour. There are also bus services to many of the major city hotels and train stations in the Greater Tokyo area. Overnight bus services operate to Osaka and Kyoto. Taxis are available.
