Suva Flights Guide

Suva, FijiSuva is on the island of Viti Levu and is the capital of Fiji. It is the country's political and commercial heart.

You can get to Suva by plane from the domestic town of Nadi and New Zealand's Auckland. Local transport, in the form of buses, is cheap and fairly easy to use. There are numerous taxis as well, which are also not expensive.

The Fiji Museum is a major local attraction. You can see a variety of artefacts and exhibits from around South Pacific lands, as well as learning about the history and culture of Fiji.

A great natural place to visit is the Colo-i-Suva Forest Reserve. As well as great walking trails there are pretty waterfalls and sparkling pools. Some of the pools are suitable for swimming and bathing, and there is a fun rope swing for the brave!

The Suva Municipal Market is a lively and colourful place to visit. Vendors sell a wide selection of vegetables and tropical fruits. Buy some of the fruits to taste – they are fresh, juicy, and very tasty!

You can buy traditional hand made souvenirs from the Municipal Handicraft Centre. There are things made from straw, textiles, and exquisitely carved wooden objects.

Whilst Suva is not known as being a beach destination, you can find some decent beaches along the east coast. Some hotels have pools that you can use if you are a guest or pay a fee.

A local rugby match is a lively and exciting affair, filled with passion and guts.

The fun and adventurous Pacific Harbour makes for a great trip. It is only 45 minutes away by road.

There are several western style eating joints available as well as numerous places to enjoy great Indian cuisine. The local fare is very heavily influenced by Indian flavours.
