Prague Flights Guide

Prague, Czech RepublicPrague's fairy-tale architecture has miraculously stood strong against a millennium of history. Overlooking the gentle Vltava River, the cobblestone streets, walled courtyards, stone bridges and medieval church spires in Prague's historic centre quietly tell the stories of Bohemian kings, classical composers, and Velvet Revolutionaries. In addition to its romantic historical charms, Prague is a modern, exciting city filled with sophisticated music, art, and cuisine.

Getting around in Prague is easy, with an excellent public transport system that includes metro, trams and buses. Prague is also a wonderful city for simply walking, with winding lanes that unexpectedly lead to little chapels, gardens and cafes.

One of the best ways to take in Prague's attractions is by picking up a Prague Card, a 4-day all-inclusive card that allows free entry to over 50 of Prague's most popular attractions. Perched on a hilltop above Prague, you'll see majestic Prague Castle, the largest ancient castle in the world. Within the castle complex, you'll also find St. Vitus Cathedral, a stunning Roman Catholic Cathedral that dates back to the 10th-century. Prague's Old Town is home to countless historic buildings and monuments, including the striking Astronomical Clock, which is the oldest functioning astronomical clock in the world. Elegant Charles Bridge connects the Old Town with the Lesser Town. Spanning 16 arches and lined with Baroque statues, this popular bridge is almost always packed with a lively crowd of musicians, artists, hot dogs vendors, and tourists. Josefov, Prague's historic Jewish ghetto, is another interesting area, home to a collection of well-preserved synagogues, as well as Europe's oldest Jewish Cemetery.

Around the Old Town and along the Charles Bridge, you'll find plenty of gift shops catering to tourists, with Bohemian crystal, jewellery and other souvenirs prominently on display. The goods in these areas aren't particularly high-quality, but it's still an interesting shopping experience nonetheless.

Try some traditional Czech cuisine, which features pork or chicken, slightly sweet cabbage, dumplings, and potatoes. Crepes or dumplings filled with fruit are popular for dessert. Prague is also well-known for producing some of the world's best beers, so be sure to stop by one of this city's pubs, called hospoda, to try a carefully-crafted microbrew.
