Portland Flights Guide

Portland, USAPortland is home to a fantastic art and music scene, plenty of parks, diverse neighbourhoods, and excellent microbreweries, all while maintaining its laid-back, small-town charm. The city, which offers a mix of historic and modern, is also a good base for visiting the nearby beaches along the Pacific Ocean, the waterfalls in the Columbia Gorge, or the wineries in Willamette Valley.

Portland is a very walkable and bikeable city, but it also offers a good public transportation system of buses and light rail.

Portland's appeal lies in its overall atmosphere, rather than specific attractions, however there are still plenty of things to do. It would be easy to spend an entire day, or even two, exploring Washington Park, which is home to a zoo, forestry museum, children's museum, rose garden, archery range, and dozens of other attractions. Art lovers can check out the Portland Art Museum, the seventh oldest museum in the US, or there are also a number of interesting galleries in the Pearl District. Portland offers dozens of places to simply stop and literally smell the roses, such as the lovely Lan Su Chinese Garden, or the International Rose Test Garden.

Portland is well-known for its music scene, with many pubs and bars hosting talented local bands. The city is also the unofficial microbrewery capital of the world, with the Pearl District, in particular, offering an excellent selection of craft beers. You'll find some trendy wine bars in Nob Hill, along with a fantastic selection of Mediterranean, French, and Vietnamese cuisine. Portland's proximately to the Pacific Ocean also means that its seafood is both abundant and delicious.

Portland's diverse neighborhoods make for an exciting shopping scene. The Hawthrone area offers beautiful handmade jewellery, clothing, and books, while the downtown area is home to bigger department stores, such as Nordstrom's and Macy's. There are chic boutiques in the Pearl District, and cool crafts in the Northeast. Like the rest of Oregon, there's no sales tax in Portland, which means the price on the tag is the final price you pay.
