Italy's Pisa is in Tuscany, and is world famous for its incredible Leaning Tower. It offers much more for visitors too, with many fine buildings, cultural gems, a laid back night scene, and a whole more besides.
Pisa Galileo Galilei Airport is the main airport serving Pisa and the wider Tuscany area. There are trains to and from Lucca and Florence, and Pisa can also be reached by bus from a wide number of destinations. Within the city, regular buses make it easy to get around. Many attractions are close enough to comfortably walk between.
Pisa is split into four main historical areas.
Within the Piazza dei Miracoli you can see a vast number of the city's main sights. It is home to the Leaning Tower of Pisa. As well as taking many photos of this gravity defying marvel, you can also climb the tower for great views. The tough climb is worth it! Also in the Piazza you can see Pisa's marvellous cathedral, which is bursting with beautiful artwork, the decorative Monumental Ceremony, the Baptistery, with its large ornate dome and great sculptures, and two museums; the Museo delle Sinopie and the Museo del Opera del Duomo.
Other places of interest around Pisa include the Piazza dei Cavalieri, which is surrounded by a large number of historical buildings, St Stephen's Church, the Clock Palace, the San Matteo Museum, the Palazzo della Carovana, and the Piazza Garibaldi. Opposite the Piazza Garibaldi you can find the Piazza XX Settembre. For even more wonderful sights, go and see Santa Sepolcro, Santa Maria della Spina, the Citadel, Giardino Scotto, and the amazing Tuttomondo mural.
The city is home to some nice spas, where you can feel completely refreshed and rejuvenated.
