Newark Flights Guide

Newark, USANewark is home to the Newark Liberty International Airport. The airport's IATA code is EWR. The name is to reflect the victims of the 9/11 tragedy. Situated 24 kilometres away from Midtown Manhatten in New York City, it is one of the major airports that serves the city of New York. It is also used by people travelling to and from parts of the state of New Jersey. It serves a variety of domestic and international destinations and is a major hub for some carriers. The busiest international routes from Newark Airport include London Heathrow, Tel Aviv Ben Gurion, Frankfurt, and Toronto Pearson. The busiest domestic routes include Orlando, Chigaco, Fort Lauderdale, and Houston.

It was the USA's first major airport and it opened in 1928. It played a historical role in the Second World War, when it was closed to commercial traffic and used for military operations. Newark Airport was the final destination for the longest scheduled direct and non-stop route; Singapore Airlines flew non stop to Newark for a number of years from Singapore. The route was eventually cancelled. On September the 11th, 2001, a plane from Newark bound for San Francisco was hijacked. Later, however, it crashed in Pennsylvania without reaching its intended target.

The airport has three terminal buildings, A, B, and C. They are linked by a monorail. There are good facilities for passengers in each building, including a selection of shops and food and beverage outlets. There are parking facilities and an onsite airport hotel.

The Newark Liberty International Airport Station connects passengers by rail to places in New Jersey and in New York. The airport is served by numerous bus services, and taxis are widely available.
