Naples Flights Guide

Naples, ItalyItaly's Naples is in the Campania Region. The beautiful historic city is the home of pizza, it enjoys magical views of the Bay of Naples and the mighty Mount Vesuvius, and it has a very distinctive charm.

A main gateway into Naples is Capodichino Airport. Ferries connect the mainland city to Sardinia, Tunisia, Corsica, and the Aeolian Islands. Naples also enjoys good rail and road links with the rest of the country and further into Europe. Within the city the roads can be very busy; driving is not recommended. The city is served by a good train, bus, and subway network, and taxis are plentiful.

At Naples' Port you can see the wonderful Castel dell'Ov. The castle's name translates to the Egg Castle! Another must see castle is the fabulous Castel Nuovo. It is an enormous and stunning medieval castle that today houses a museum and a picture gallery. Castel Capuano and Castel Sant'Elmo are also worth a visit.

Other places of interest in Naples include the elaborate and ornate New Jesuite Church, the lovely piazzas of del Gesu and S Dominico Maggiore, St Angelo on the Nile Church, Chiara Monastery, the Sansevro Chapel, and Parco Virgiliano. The city's main square is the Piazza del Plebiscito.

The eerie medieval Catacombe di San Gennaro is sure to send a shiver down your spine!

Head underground at San Lorenzo Maggiore Church and explore Napoli Sotteranea, the remains of an intriguing underground Roman city. At Naples' main church, the Duomo, you can also see excavations of an old Roman site.

Art aficionados will appreciate the many delights contained within the Museo Nazionale di Capodimonte. It is home to a staggering collection of fine Italian works, including Baroque and Renaissance pieces. You can see paintings by Bellini, Giordano, Tizian, Caravaggio, and more.

Some of the top museums in Naples include the large Museo Archeologico Nazionale, with its great selection of rescued works from Pompeii, the Museum of City History, Quadreria dei Girolamini, and the St. Gennaro Treasury Museum.

The Teatro San Carlo is the city's most famous opera house.

Visit Pizzeria Brandi and snap a picture of the stone that records the history of pizza. Enjoy fine Italian cuisine and wine, and have a wonderful time in Naples.
