Milan Malpensa Airport is the main airport within Italy's northern city of Milan. It is also called the City of Milan Airport, and the IATA code is MXP. It sees many passengers passing through its gates on route to the fashion and finance capital.
It operates flights to over 40 destinations country-wide and across Europe. There are also some flights to inter-continental locations. The busiest domestic routes include Catania, Naples, Rome, and Palermo. The busiest routes within the EU include Madrid, Barcelona, Paris and London. The busiest non-EU routes include Dubai, New York, Istanbul, and Moscow.
The airport has two runways and two terminals. Terminal 1 contains three different areas and deals with flights provided by a variety of carriers to numerous destinations. Both scheduled and chartered flights use Terminal 1. Terminal 2 is the low cost carrier terminal. Each terminal has good facilities, amenities, and services for passengers. As the terminals are several kilometres apart, they are linked by a free bus service. The travel time between the terninals is around 15 minutes.
The Malpensa Express links the airport (from Terminal 1) to Milan Cadorna Station. There are also rail services to Milan Porta Garibaldi Station and Milano Bovisa Station. Bus services run to the city centre and the metro station. It is also possible to travel by bus directly from the airport to numerous places across Italy and further afield. Many taxis wait for arrivals, and the airport has good road links.
