Washington Dulles Attractions - Things to do
The National Mall is public parkland in the heart of Washington, D.C. It stretches just under 3.5 km in length between the White House and the Capitol Building and is lined with museums, monuments and national historic sites. The Dupont Circle neighborhood is a historic district which is also surrounded by eateries, bars and hotels. It is also considered the heart of this city’s gay community. The Capitol’s Visitor’s Centre has various exhibits on display regarding the workings of the US Congress and this nation’s history. Construction of this building initiated in 1793. The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is home to the National Symphony Orchestra. Opera, jazz, chamber music and ballet are also on the menu of performances to be sampled here throughout the year. Public tours begin every 10 minutes during operating hours in the day.
