In the Diablo Mountain Range on Mount Hamilton, east of San Jose, is the Lick Observatory. While it is a research facility of the University of California, it also hosts public programs including a summer concert series and star gazing through its telescopes by purchased tickets only. Peralta Adobe Fallon House Historical Site includes the city’s oldest standing building, an adobe structure built in 1797. The Fallon House was constructed in 1855. This site is in the downtown area. The Japanese American Museum in the Japantown neighborhood sponsors community walking tours in the ethnic enclave neighborhood where it is found.
