Parkes Attractions - Things to do
"The Dish" or Parkes CSIRO Radio Telescope & Discovery Centre. This awesome 64 metre radio telescope, fondly referred to as "the Dish" seems to come up out of nowhere, literally. This world famous radio telescope has even starred in its own self titled movie. The telescope is still in use, and anyone even vaguely interested in science or the solar system will be in their element. There is a cafe, gift shop, interactive displays, and also 2 theatres to experience here. (The theatres do incur an entry charge.) The Dish is open 363 days of the year, and can be found about 20 km north of Parkes, along the Newell Highway, blink and you certainly won't miss it!
