On Hollywood Boulevard, between Gower Street and La Brea Avenue and Vine Street, between Yucca Street and Sunset Boulevard is the Hollywood Walk of Fame. More than 2,200 celebrities are immortalized with their prints in the sidewalk stretching out from Grauman’s Chinese Theatre . The walk expanded after the sidewalk at the theatre had filled. This landmark larger-than-life venue opened in 1927. Much of the décor required special permission to be shipped in from China at the time of construction. (http://www.manntheatres.com/chinese/)
 
Among the sites in the historic Miracle Mile district of Los Angeles are the La Brea Tarpits and the George C. Page Museum. One of the world’s largest collections of Ice Age plants and animals can be found here. Almost every last bone on display was excavated from the tar pits right here in the downtown of LA. These oozing liquid asphalt tarpits continue to ooze out of the ground in the heat of the city today. The oldest specimen found here has been dated to 40,000 years ago. If a day around town or at the beach is not enough, Newport Landing at Long Beach offers sportsfishing opportunities as well as whale watching trips on the Pacific. Blocks from LA’s Union Station train terminal, is the El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historical Monument. This is near the site of the first settlement here. It is home to 4 museums and more than 20 historic buildings and structures. Cultural diversity of the multi-ethnic first settlers is celebrated.
