The Henry Doorly Zoo is Omaha’s world class zoological park. For nearly a century this facility has been operating. The world’s largest nocturnal creatures exhibit is here, an aquarium tank and dozens of species living in spacious enclosures. This zoo is a leader in breeding endangered species. Dozens of historic landmarks can be explored when visiting this city. A full range of architectural styles from Pioneer to Gothic Revival to Art Deco, are all found in the structures standing in the downtown area. The Fort Atkinson State Park is a short drive from the city. This 1820 fort serves today as a living history museum. The park itself covers over 63.5 hectares. Much of the structure at this site (recommended for construction by the Lewis & Clark Expedition) has been rebuilt. Demonstrations of historic activities occur throughout the summer months.
