Norwich Castle Museum
Perched on top of a hill overlooking Norwich, the enormous castle keep is a well preserved example of Anglo-Norman military architecture. Built as a defensive castle in 1160, and later used as a medieval prison, the castle now houses an interactive museum and art gallery. Guided tours of the battlements and dungeons are available. An additional feature is a dramatic cramped tunnel that leads from the castle into a reconstructed First Word War trench at the Royal Norfolk Regimental Museum.

Origins
Origins is an innovative museum that explores two thousand years of local history via film, images, and noise. The exhibits are all interactive, with plenty of buttons to press and games to play, and is a family friendly museum. It is housed in the Forum, an impressive all glass building, which also contains Norfolk’s main library.

Norwich Cathedral
An Anglo-Norman Abbey Church built in 1096, the present day Anglican cathedral is an impressive sight. It has the second tallest spire in England after Salisbury, but the main attraction is the gothic rib-vaulting that tops the nave and includes over a thousand sculpted roof bosses that depict bible stories from The Creation to Doomsday. These were added in 1463. At the eastern end of the cathedral is the grave of Edith Cavell, a local nurse shot by the Germans during the First World War for helping prisoners of war to escape.
