In southern most Brooklyn stands the Boardwalk along the sands of Coney Island's beach. This is the site of what was once the world’s largest roller coaster, the Cyclone, which still runs today. After the first climb, this wooden thrill ride is powered by gravity. Nathan’s Hot Dogs can still be eaten here where they originated. The sideshow museum and the the NY aquarium are on opposing ends of the boardwalk. A full sit down meal is a few blocks away at one of the Ukrainian restaurants in nearby Brighton Beach. Discount tickets to Broadway performances are always on sale in Times Square at 42nd Street where 7th Avenue and Broadway diverge and head downtown. The TKTS booth sells discount seats for undersold shows on the day of the performance. On a rainy day, the Museum of Natural History can entertain children of all ages with more than 30 million pieces in its collection. From the fourth floor dinosaurs to the gem and mineral exhibit or the Hayden Planetarium, there is plenty to see in the permanent collections. Of the many smaller museums one of the newest and most popular in recent years is the Ground Zero Museum Workshop. The Ellis Island Museum can be visited in conjunction with the Statue of Liberty. The Ferry departs from Battery Park in southwest Manhattan and travels to Liberty Island and Ellis Island. Ellis island was the portal to the new world for European immigrants.
