Kunming Attractions - Things to do
Kunming is an important tourism destination in china due to its rich historical and cultural sites. The main tourist attraction in Kunming is undoubtedly the Yauntong Temple in the Northern part of Kunming. The grandest and most important Buddhist temple, it was built in the 8th century by King Yimouxun. One of the most interesting things about the Yauntong temple is its entrance which is located at the top of a hill and you descend downwards along a sloping path. There are 500 Buddhists Arhats carved into the walls.

Tanhua Temple built in 1634, is another major tourist attraction. It is located on the eastern outskirts on Kunming city. It has excellent scenery and is said to have been the spot where the shack of Shi Shiqiao, a Ming dynasty scholar, was located.
Other major attractions include; the Daguan Pavilion, Qiongzhu Temple, Kunming Zoology Museum, Yunnan Railway Museum, Yunnan Provincial Museum, Kunming Zoo, Kunming Botanical Gardens and Green Lake Park.
