King Island Attractions - Things to do
King Island Dairy was established in 1902 due primarily to transport issues. King Island Dairy's Fromagerie is open daily from midday to 4.30 pm, excepting Wednesdays from May to October. Taste and or buy the world famous cheeses, or watch a video detailing the process of cheese making. King Island Dairy is located in North Road, Currie. The Fromagerie can be found on the hill next to the factory. The museum has placed a special emphasis on flotsam collected from local shipwrecks. The museum is open from 2-4pm daily, except in July and August when it is closed. Viewing the penguins can be done independently or with a guided tour. Whichever way you go, you need to remember to turn up 30 minutes before sunset, wear dark clothes, never touch the penguins, don't block their access to the burrows, and absolutely no smoking. The smell frightens them and they won't come in.
