Humberside Attractions - Things to do
The Deep Located on the Humber Estuary, The Deep is one of the most spectacular aquariums in the world and is home to forty sharks and almost four thousand fish. The Deep is dedicated to promoting enjoyment and knowledge of the world's oceans, and visitors take a tour from the beginning of time, through the oceans we know today, to a futuristic deep-sea research lab, known as Deep Blue one. http://www.thedeep.co.uk/ Museums Quarter The Museums Quarter in Hull’s old town combines a mixture of traditional museums and unusual exhibits. These include the Hull and East Riding Museum of Archaeology, the Streetlife Museum of Transport, the birthplace of William Wilberforce, and the former deep sea fishing trawler, the Arctic Corsair. http://www.hullcc.gov.uk/ Beverley Minster One of the best examples of medieval gothic architecture in England, Beverley Minster was built between 1220 and 1425. It was constructed around the tomb of St. John, Bishop of York, who founded a monastery on the site where the Minster now stands. The site became a focus for pilgrimages in the middle ages, due to miracles that took place around the tomb of St. John. Beverley Minster is still a pilgrimage site today, and is the parish church of St. John and St, Martin, forming the heart of the local community. http://www.beverleyminster.org.uk/
