Haikou Attractions - Things to do
Holiday Beach
Holiday Beach is a major sea side resort that is located to the west of Haikou City. This resort boasts of a gorgeous beach that extends over 6km(3.7 miles). The resort offers facilities for swimming, sail-boarding, kayaking and lounging on the beach. Holiday Beach is equipped with a wide array of restaurants and bars which are largely housed in its main Guanjingtai Plaza and it also offers various entertainment options in the form of its Music Square, the Children’s Movement Center, the Kingdom of Butterflies and the aqua wonderland, 'the World above Water' which features water ballet and diving presentations.
Wujong Temples
This temple complex is located at a distance of 5 kilometers from the center of Haikou city and features several temples which were originally constructed during the reign of Emperor Wanli of the Ming Dynasty. These temples were renovated during the Qing Dynasty(1644-1911). Some of the temples located in the complex are the Wugong Temple and the Sugong, Hairui and Fubo Temples.
Tomb of Hai Rui
The Tomb of Hai Rui is situated on the outskirts of Haikou City and the attraction features the tomb of Hai Rui who was an honest official during the Ming Dynasty. This official is remembered fondly until today and his tomb which is surrounded by a verdant garden is a popular tourist site of Haikou city.
Nanli Lake
Nanli Lake is a man-made lake that is located at a distance of 40km ((24.85 miles) from Haikou city in Ding'an County. The lake has its midst many islands which are covered with lush vegetation and these islands are home to much exotic flora and fauna. The Nanli Lake is a popular getaway for the people of Haikou and it is accordingly equipped with many hotels, villas, restaurants and a golf course.
