Emerald Attractions - Things to do

Outside Emerald’s Town Hall is an amazing sight. The Fossilised Tree is 250 million years old. Unearthed in 1979 when a railway bridge was being built across the Mackenzie River by the Gregory Mine. The mining company presented the tree to the town and it is now able to be enjoyed by the whole community.

Lake Maraboon is part of the Fairbairn Dam are great holiday destinations. Go fishing in the lake which is fully stocked with eight different kinds of fish. The Emerald Historic Railway Station was first build in 1899. Within the first year it had burnt to the ground and a new Railway Station was built in 1900. It was restored in 1986 and is now heritage listed. A piece of history, the entrance will astonish with its elaborate entry of wrought iron lacework and pillared portico. Shall we say photo op? Take a memory home with you framed in front of this historic railway station.
