Darwin Attractions - Things to do
Aquascene in the heart of Darwin is a daily fish feeding ritual of over 40 years. Begun by a resident throwing bread scraps to a few fish at high tide, this ritual has grown to become an exciting high tide event. Today, hundreds of fish come to shore at high tide to be fed by hand. Trays of bread are supplied to visitors at regular intervals to ensure a steady supply. Feed the mullet, catfish, cod, rays, diamond fish, milk fish and parrot fish by hand. If you watch the shallows carefully, you might be able to identify them. The tide in Darwin Harbour is subject to movements of up to eight metres. The fish’ visit is limited to only a few hours each day and they must return with the tide out to sea. http://www.aquascene.com.au/ Crocodylus Park is only 5 minutes from the Darwin Airport at Berrimah. Witness the largest reptiles in the world. With over 1,000 crocodiles varying in size from one foot long to a massive 16 fee, Crocodylus Park will keep the excitement happening all day. Not just limited to the park’s namesake, Crocodylus is home to big cats, primates, birds, hawksbill turtles and other reptiles. http://www.crocodyluspark.com The Australian Pearling Exhibition is located at the Wharf Precinct in Darwin. Years of pearling history from the days of the lugger and hard hat diving through to the modern farming and pearl culturing techniques are on display.
