Take a step back in time when you visit the Old Timers Mine. An original opal mine that has been dated back to 1916, the mine was hidden as some old time miners had back filled the shafts. The hidden mine was accidentally discovered in 1968, although the original miners never returned to dig up the opal. Imagine the surprise on discovering a wealth of opal when the owners were extending their underground home. Share in this experience and visit the Old Timers Mine.

It is not just the homes and opal mines that are underground. Put the Catacomb Church on your itinerary and marvel at this simply adorned church. Built in 1977, this church was cut out of the sandstone in the shape of a cross. Complementing the Outback opal fields, the cross, lectern and communion table were carved from local Mulga wood and an old miner’s winch.
