Marine Drive -Eranakulam City
 
The main attraction of Ernakulam city is its seafront promenade called Marine Drive or Shanmugham Road .The promenade is a popular place for an evening stroll offering as it does a spectacular view of the harbor and the backwaters.
 
St Francis Church-Fort Kochi
 
The St Francis Church is a protestant church that is located in Fort Kochi. It was built by the Europeans in 1510AD and it once housed the remains of the famous Portuguese explorer Vasco De Gama until they were shipped out to Lisbon. The St Francis Church is said to be the oldest church in India.
 
Chinese Fishing Nets- Fort Kochi
 
It is believed that Chinese traders from court of Kublai Khan introduced these huge cantilevered fishing nets in Kochi in the late14th century. The nets are made of bamboo poles and teak wood and are best seen at sunset on Fort Kochi beach. While you are at Fort Kochi beach you must also take the chance sample the seafood delights that are cooked on the shacks that line Fort Kochi beach for these impromptu shacks serve the fresh catch which is brought daily in by the local fisherman who use these famous Chinese fishing nets.
 
Jewish Synagogue- Mattancherry.
 
The Jewish Synagogue of Mattancherry which is also known as the Paradesi Synagogue is oldest Synagogue in India. This synagogue which was built in 1568 is the main attraction in Mattancherry and though there are hardly any Jews left in India, the synagogue remains a symbol of their existence in the centuries past. The Synagogue is a magnificent testament to this episode in history as it is adorned with ornate oil burning lamps and blue and white hand painted tiles which were sourced from China.
 
The Dutch Palace - Mattancherry
 
The Dutch Palace which is located on Mattancherry was built by the Portuguese in 1555 and restored by the Dutch in 1663 before they presented it to the kings of Cochin. The main hall of the Palace was used for the coronations of the Maharajas (kings) of Cochin. The courtyard of the palace also includes a small Hindu temple though the Palace is especially known for its elaborate murals that adorn its bed chambers. These murals depict scenes from the great Hindu epics the Ramayana and the Mahabharata.
