Bundaberg Attractions - Things to do
Mon Repos Beach is located 15 kilometres east of Bundaberg. A visit to Mon Repos is enchanting whether you come to watch the nesting turtles or arrive to see the emerging turtle hatchlings. The ‘Turtle Coast’ spans between Woodgate and the Town of 1770, but the most popular nesting sites remain at Mon Repos. Turtles are easily disturbed and the managed space at Mon Repos makes this an ideal location for nesting turtles. Tours are conducted each night during the nesting and hatching seasons and the Visitors Centre has slide shows, films and static displays. A visit to Bundaberg is not complete without seeing the turtles at Mon Repos. http://www.bundabergregion.info/turtles/turtles_home.cfm A piece of history, the Hinkler Hall of Aviation is located in the Bundaberg Botanic Gardens on the north side of town. A tribute to Bert Hinkler an early pioneer of flight, the Hall brings to life his achievements and an understanding of the historical, social and physical developments from this early aviator. An interactive facility, much more than a museum, the Hinkler Hall of Aviation celebrates the pioneers of aviation. This is an adventure and an experience not to be missed. http://hinklerhallofaviation.com/ A visit to the Bundaberg Rum Distillery is a tradition and should be on your itinerary. From the first barrel of Bundaberg Rum in 1888 till today, Bundaberg Rum is recognised as one Australia’s leading spirits. The first tours started in 1986 and have grown. A tour takes you through the process Bundaberg Rum production from the raw molasses to the bouquet of the maturing spirit. Enjoy a sample of one of the Bundy mixes and Rum liqueur based drink at the bar, video presentation and historical displays. If you enjoyed your sample tasting, purchase a bottle at the Store. http://www.bundabergrum.com.au
