Bordeaux Attractions - Things to do
Wine school Wine tasting is one of the most attractive pastimes on a visit to Bordeaux, but if you want to know a little more about the local wine before you start sampling it, book yourself into a two hour introductory course at Bordeaux’s wine school situated opposite the tourist office. Courses run in the afternoon, Wednesday to Friday, between June and September. Cathedrale St. Andre Known for Tour Pey-Berlend, its fifty metre high gothic belfry complete with gargoyles, the cathedral towers over the city. The oldest section dates from the eleventh century, although most of the cathedral was built in the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries. There is a spectacular view over the city from the tower if you can face climbing almost two hundred and fifty steps to get there. http://www.bordeaux-tourisme.com/ Bordeaux Monumental Located on the rue des Argentiers in Old Bordeaux, the Bordeaux Monumental is an exhibition that looks at six stages of the fascinating history of Bordeaux and allows the visitor to travel though these various phases, or ‘portraits’, of the city. The exhibition begins with Gallo-Roman Bordeaux and ends with the modern city of today. http://www.bordeaux-tourisme.com/
