Australia's Port Lincoln is in the Eyre Peninsula region. It was named after the home town of famous explorer, Matthew Fliders. It has several places of interest for tourists to visit, as well as a number of things to do.
Port Lincoln is served by a regional airport. It is South Australia's second busiest airport. It offers regular flight to and from Adelaide. To drive to Port Lincoln from Adelaide will take around eight hours. Coaches link the town to Whyalla and Port Augusta en route to Adelaide. Many visitors hire either a car or a bike for their time in the town.
A car is particulary useful for appreciating the stunning and interesting Whaler's Way drive. There are an abundance of natural delights located along the 15 kilometre drive. You will see colonies of seals, rugged cliffs, islands and islets, rock falls, and rock pools.
Within the town you can go for a refreshing swim at the jetty, watch fishing vessels coming and going in the marina, and take a pleasant stroll along the foreshore. Get out and about to nearby places of interest, including the beautiful Lincoln National Park. In the National Park you can see the lighthouse at Cape Donnington, great views across to Donnington Island, and a variety of wildlife that includes kangaroos, emus, and goannas.
You can enjoy fantastic views over the beaches and town from the peak of Stamford Hill.
Adventurous souls can go cage diving with fearsome and ferocious great white sharks. Swimming with tuna fish in large enclosures is also possible.
Seafood is the local speciality, and the town has a decent selection of restaurants.
