Tianjin Holidays Overview
Tianjin is a large city located in North Eastern China. It is one of only four municipalities that have province level status in China. Its urban area is along the Hai He River and its ports are on the Bohai Gulf in the Indian Ocean. It has a large manufacturing sector and is one China’s most important economic regions. The main industries include oil and gas, auto manufacturing, metalworking and textiles. The agricultural sector is also quite large with major crops being heat, rice and maize. Tianjin has a rich history especially in the 19th and early 20th century. This marked a period where concessions granted by the Emperor of China allowed Britain, France, Belgium, Austria, Germany, Russia and others to build self contained areas in Tianjin. Remnants of this are evidenced in the old architecture that one can see in Tianjin. The population of Tianjin is currently estimated to be about 12 million. Trhe majority of the population are Han Chinese while minorities include the Hui, Manchus, Mongols and Koreans. The main language in use is the Tianjin dialect of Chinese Mandarin. The weather in Tianjin can get very cold during winter as a result of cold winds that blow from Siberia. Summers are hot and humid and sand storms from the Gobi Desert can occur a few times during spring.
