Taree Holidays Overview
Taree is 317 km north of Sydney, or a 3 1/2 hour drive, and lies on the Manning River. For the water enthusiast, Taree has plenty of water surrounds. In 1846 the Taree estate was established. At this time the Manning River was the main form of transportation. After the railway reached Taree in 1913, the town was able to prosper and grow, and this was even more so after the Martin Bridge was built in 1940 allowing vehicular transport to easily enter the town. Taree has museums, galleries, and crafts for the tourist to visit. The beautiful coast is less than a 30 minute drive away, opening up many other avenues for sight seeing and activities. Taree and the Manning Valley has many beautiful forests and National Parks nearby for the holiday maker to enjoy.
