Seoul is officially known as Seoul special City. It the largest city in the country of South Korea and the nation’s capital. It is also the world’s most “wired” city in terms of fibre optic connectivity. Its living standard is only comparable to Paris and Milan. It is the world’s sixth most economically powerful city as voted by Forbes magazine in 2008. Its high speed rail and subway system are the third largest in the world. With a population of over 10 million, Seoul is undoubtedly one of the world’s largest cities. It also has a rapidly expanding international population. Most of the residents are Korean and speak Korean. Chinese, Japanese and other international minorities comprise about 2% of the population. The climate in Seoul is Humid and continental. Summers are hot and humid and run from may to September with average temperatures of 25 degrees Celsius. Winters are normally rather cold and run from December to February. Temperatures during winter can be as low as minus 7 degrees Celsius.

There are a number of festivals that take place regularly in Seoul. Chief among these is the Seoul International Fireworks Festival. The festival is held every year on the 26th of September. Teams from all over the world come to participate in the fireworks festival and night sky is set alight over the Yeoido Han River Citizen Park. The Hanseong Baekje Cultural Festival held every September reneacts scenes during the reign of King Gunchogo who ruled from AD 346 to 375.
