Sanya is a city in the Hainan province of china. It is located in southernmost tip of Hainan island and has been touted as the Chinese Hawaii due to its beautiful beaches, pleasant weather and its location along the same latitude as American islands of Hawaii. Its ancient name literally translates to “cliff state”. Sanya has a long history dating back more than 2000 years ago. The city is a popular holiday city for people from Hong Kong due to its proximity to Hong Kong. A number of international hotel chains have sprung up in the city over the last couple of years. Lately it has also hosted a number of world events such as the Miss World beauty pageant, which have thrust it into international limelight. The weather in Sanya is warm throughout the year averaging 25 degrees Celsius. Annual rainfall is modest at just over 1, 200 mm per year.
