Nelson Holidays Overview
Nelson lies on the northern end of the Southern Island of New Zealand. Nelson was first settled by Europeans in the early 1840's, but has been home to the Maoris for over 1100 years. Nelson was named after Admiral Horatio Nelson, and many of the streets are called after ships and people from the Battle of Trafalgar. Nelson lies on the Tasman Bay, and is surrounded on all other sides by mountains, allowing for plenty of beautiful scenery.
