Napoli (Naples) Holidays Overview
Naples has it all; a stunning bay area, picturesque palaces, castles, churches and museums, and fabulous food. Once known as ‘Italy’s most beautiful crown’ Naples is situated in the south west of Italy, on the vibrant Amalfi Coast, under the watchful eye of the dormant volcano Vesuvius. The bustling streets can be a little run down, and tatty, but this only adds to its ancient charm, and the local people are incredibly friendly. You will find plenty of family run shops selling clothes, leather goods and home wares. The churches and museums are well worth a visit, and although most of the palaces have been converted into private apartments, they are still attractive to view from the outside. Naples credits itself as the birth place of pizza, and many of the local restaurants have taken this simple dish and made it a gourmet delight. Naples is also well known for superb seafood, and fresh clams and mussels are particularly popular.
